Have A Heart For Haiti! Raises $3,304.00 Victoria Playhouse Petrolia, the Lambton Youth Choir, YMCA International, and YMCA Skills Link Petrolia are delighted to announce that a combined amount of $3,304.00 was raised to support relief efforts in Haiti at the HAVE A HEART FOR HAITI fundraising concert on Feb. 9th at Victoria Hall. Despite a snow storm that cancelled schools and made travel difficult, 160 people attended the fundraiser which included a fabulous concert featuring the Lambton Youth Choir, and guest artists CATHY ELLIOTT, BEVERLY GAIL, DYLAN JUKES, SCOTT PIETRANGELO, ERICA WARDER and MICHAEL LERNER. In addition to ticket sales, funds were also raised by silent auction and cookie sale. Auction items were generously donated by many Petrolia businesses including: Allison Phair Hair Design, Mister B’s, Modern Ladies Wear, Total Hair & Body Care, Heidi’s Independent, Victoria Playhouse Petrolia, Cash & Carry Feed Bin, Family Discount Depot, Leisure Lane, Godfather’s Pizza, Juce Computers, Heritage Kids, Creekside Framing, Home Hardware, Actor’s Restaurant, Ymca International, Blessings Coffee Break, and Tracy Phibbs. All funds raised were donated to the Canadian Red Cross, and will be matched dollar for dollar by the Canadian Government. “The HAVE A HEART FOR HAITI fundraising concert was an incredible evening,” said Event Coordinator, NANCY KEYS. “All VPP staff members donated their time to work the concert, the Town of Petrolia waived the rentals fees for Victoria Hall, and the gang at YMCA Skills Link Petrolia did an outstanding job collecting auction items, helping with decorations, ushering, packaging cookies, and creating displays. We even had the Petrolia Girl Guides out to give us a hand, and they were a great help.” In addition to the many volunteers who helped make HAVE A HEART FOR HAITI a terrific success, event sponsors included: basement143 web and graphic design, Haines Printing, The Observer, The Topic, The Watford Guide Advocate, The Forest Standard, and the Town of Petrolia. |
